After they can ride
Once they can ride in a lot, the street is a different job. Crossing, braking, looking, deciding. Hoping they'll be okay is not a plan.
We call this the second part of the program: driver’s education for bikes.
Once a child can handle a parking lot, the next job is the street — crossing, braking, looking, deciding. It is usually for riders around 7 to 15, depending on maturity, not a birthday.
There is also trail work for kids who already have strong handling (roots, rocks, body position). That is not the beginner product and it is not sitting in the main booking calendar right now.
This page does not book online. If the lot is already easy, request a call and say you want the on-road or trail chapter.
What we provide
- We start with our bikes — bring yours if you have one
- Helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, and gloves
- Soft pedals that are kinder on shins
What to bring
- Closed-toe shoes — no flip-flops
- Clothes for the weather
- Water, and a snack if you want one
Questions
How many lessons will we need?
Most children start, stop, pedal, and steer in a parking lot within one to three sessions. Some need more. Special needs and high-fear students often need a plan — let's chat before you sign up.
Do we need to bring a bike?
If you have a bike, bring it. We start with our bikes for beginners, often starting smaller than you expect and moving up as balance and confidence show up. Helmets and pads are here if you need them.
What should we wear?
Closed-toe shoes, clothes you can move in, and layers for New England weather. No flip-flops. Bring water.
What does a lesson cost?
Lessons are $150.
Where are lessons?
Quiet, flat, controlled lots on the North Shore — currently around Topsfield, MA. San Diego is in the works and is not bookable yet.
