Questions parents actually ask
If your question is “will you still take us if…,” the answer is usually yes — and a call is the right next step.
Do you work with children who have special needs?
Yes. About half of our students come with extra needs — autism, ADHD, dyspraxia, PANDAS, motor delay, hearing or sight impairment, and/or GAD. Lessons are 1:1. We meet the child where they are and shape the lesson to them. If you are not sure it is a fit, call first. You do not need to send a diagnosis through a form.
Can we talk before booking if my child is autistic or easily overwhelmed?
Please do. A short call lets us hear how your child communicates, what sets them off, and what a good day looks like. We teach in a quiet space — not a busy park — and we stop when the child needs to stop.
My child is terrified of bikes. Can you help?
That is a common reason people find us. Trust comes before pedals. Please call so we can understand the specific situation, hear what happened last time, and plan the first session.
How many lessons will we need?
Most children start, stop, pedal, and steer in a parking lot within one to three sessions. Some need more. Special needs and high-fear students often need a plan — let's chat before you sign up.
Do we need to bring a bike?
If you have a bike, bring it. We start with our bikes for beginners, often starting smaller than you expect and moving up as balance and confidence show up. Helmets and pads are here if you need them.
What should we wear?
Closed-toe shoes, clothes you can move in, and layers for New England weather. No flip-flops. Bring water.
How old does my child need to be?
We teach kids 5 and up. We do not work with children under 5. There is no published upper age ceiling.
Do you teach adults?
Not right now. We teach kids 5 and up.
What does a lesson cost?
Lessons are $150.
Where are lessons?
Quiet, flat, controlled lots on the North Shore — currently around Topsfield, MA. San Diego is in the works and is not bookable yet.
Is my child too old to learn?
No. We regularly work with older kids and teens who never got comfortable. There is no published age ceiling. If they still want to learn, we want to hear it.
What happens after they can ride in a parking lot?
There is a second chapter — street sense, braking, scanning, real-world riding. That is usually for riders around 7 to 15, depending on maturity. Ask us once the lot feels easy.
What if we need to cancel?
Give us 24 hours when you can. Weather and nervous-system days happen. Call or email and we will find another time.
